Iran Update

Iran’s out here bragging about a million people ready to throw themselves at a U.S. invasion, and Trump’s got maybe a few thousand more paratroopers spinning up on top of the 50–60k we already have scattered around the region, so the math alone tells you this is mostly posturing and leverage, not some “DDay into Tehran” moment.  He’s again talking like there are “big talks” with Iran while pushing back his own fake deadline on hitting their energy grid and the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran immediately turns around and publicly calls bullshit, spelling out their own conditions and denying any real negotiations, which just further exposes how much of his messaging is about trying to jerk the markets around, not actually manage a war.

The Iran side of this is clear: they’re loudly advertising that they’ve mobilized over a million fighters for a hypothetical ground fight and daring the U.S. to actually land troops on their soil, especially around Kharg Island and other critical oil infrastructure, because they know the optics of a bloody ground invasion would be a political nightmare for Trump at home and a global economic bomb.  In reality, we’re seeing limited, incremental U.S. deployments — a thousand or so from the 82nd Airborne on top of the tens of thousands already in the broader theater — which screams “pressure and deterrence” way more than “we’re actually going in this weekend.”  The war itself is already nasty enough with airstrikes, missiles, and proxy hits flying around Israel and the Gulf, so nobody sane in the Pentagon is itching to add “open-ended ground war with Iran” to that mess just to juice one Friday close on the Dow.

On the Trump side, his entire play has been: threaten something extreme, claim secret talks, watch the market, then quietly move the goalposts when it doesn’t react the way he wants — and this week is the same script.  He already kicked his own strike deadline out another ten days under the excuse of “ongoing talks,” right as analysts and even mainstream outlets start pointing out that markets are getting numb to his bluffing, which means he has less and less ability to jawbone stocks back up with a Truth Social rant.  So this weekend, the most likely move is not some crazy ground assault; it’s more of what he always does when he’s cornered: loud threats, maybe a “new conditions” announcement or some narrow escalation like cyber or limited strikes he can oversell as decisive, but still just shy of the kind of move that would tank oil and equities in a way he can’t spin.

If anything big pops, it’s probably in three buckets: a choreographed “pause” or mini-extension framed as “Iran is blinking,” a small, highprofile hit (like on IRGC assets or infrastructure) that he bills as a huge win, or a dramatic Sundaynight statement meant to freeze markets in place for Monday and make him look like the mastermind calming everything down that he just spent weeks inflaming.  Iran’s milliontroop chestthumping is designed to make the cost of a real invasion look insane, and the U.S. deployments are calibrated just enough to keep pressure on without crossing that line, so the smart bet for this weekend is noise, spin, and maybe a pinprick, not a massive ground operation — especially now that both the public and the market finally look like they’re starting to clock that his “big deals” and “secret talks” are mostly hot air.

TSA to be paid…

After weeks of TSA officers being used as human collateral in this stupid manufactured DHS shutdown, Trump suddenly “discovers” he has the power to pay them by executive order, pulling money from his own 2025 tax bill pot and slapping a “national emergency” label on it like he’s some hero stepping in to save airports from Democrat “chaos.”  TSA workers have been working without pay for over a month while travelers keep paying those security fees, lines get insane, callouts spike, people quit, assaults on officers jump, and the acting TSA chief is literally telling Congress that staff are sleeping in their cars and selling plasma just to get by.  All of this pain existed for one reason: MAGA hardliners and Trump wanted leverage on immigration and ICE enforcement, so they were happy to let TSA twist in the wind and blame “Democrats” while multiple clean funding bills were sitting right there that could have fully funded TSA and the rest of DHS from day one.

What makes it even more disgusting is that they spent days pretending their hands were tied — they even turned down outside offers like Musk’s “I’ll pay TSA” stunt under the excuse of legal issues — while the White House and Republicans in Congress played shutdown chicken for political points and Fox soundbites.  Then, only when the airport lines, worker resignations, and travel chaos started to become an actual political liability, Trump steps out and announces he’ll sign an order so TSA gets paid “to stop the Democrat chaos at airports,” as if he didn’t just spend 40plus days using those same workers as hostages to his agenda.  This was never about “no way to pay them” — it was a deliberate choice to inflict pain on ordinary Americans and frontline workers to squeeze out concessions on ICE and immigration, and the second that strategy started to backfire, MAGA suddenly magicked up a workaround and tried to sell it as some big act of compassion.

Drones, Deals, and Dangerous Delusions

Russia is literally sitting at the same table with our people this week pretending to be some “responsible mediator” while they’re openly cozying up to Iran, sharing intel that can help Tehran target our ships and jets, and floating backchannel offers like, “We’ll dial back helping Iran if you ease off helping Ukraine,” which the administration says it rejected but still entertained enough to have envoys meet in Florida and Miami.  So yeah, we’re “allowing” these meetings because Trump wants to look like the dealmaker who can triangulate between Russia, Iran, Ukraine, and the Iran war all at once, but in reality it just hands Moscow more leverage and legitimacy while they play both sides and lock in their axis with Tehran and Beijing.  Russia knows we’re overextended with Iran and Israel right now, so every time we sit down with them, it’s from a position of distraction and weakness, and they’re milking that for all it’s worth.

On Barksdale, the official spin versus what actually happened could not be more unsettling: you’ve got a base that houses B52s and plays a key role in our nuclear command and control suddenly under a shelterinplace order after “multiple waves” of 12–15 drones flying over sensitive areas of the installation, including the flight line, with noncommercial signals, longrange control links, and resistance to jamming — and they initially talked like it was just some kind of controlled “exercise” before the reporting caught up.  Once journalists started digging, NORTHCOM had to admit in testimony that these weren’t hobby toys, they were part of a pattern of unexplained drone incursions over key U.S. bases right after we kicked off strikes on Iran, including at least one “strategic installation” that had drones shot down at the start of the operation.  The reason this is being downplayed is obvious: the last thing the Pentagon or Trump wants is Americans connecting the dots that someone is probing our nuclear infrastructure with advanced drones at the exact same moment Russia and Iran are tightening their cooperation and our own leadership is busy trying to “manage optics” instead of ringing alarm bells.

We keep placating Russia because this White House is obsessed with the illusion that everyone is just one more “great deal” away from being friends, and because Trump wants them in the room to use as leverage against Ukraine, Europe, and now Iran, even while Moscow is feeding Iran intel and running massive drone and missile campaigns in Ukraine at the same time.  It’s the same pattern over and over: softpedal what Russia is actually doing, invite them to the table like they’re honest brokers, dismiss solid intel about their role with Iran as “fake news,” and then tell the public not to worry when suspicious drones are literally flying over a nuclear bomber base at home.

Explanation of why Trump mailed his vote…

Trump literally mailed in his Florida ballot after spending weeks screaming that mail voting is “mailin cheating,” and when pressed on why he did it, his big brain answer was basically, “because I’m president of the United States,” like the rules are fake for him but deadly serious for everyone else.  He was physically in Florida during early inperson voting for that special election, could have easily walked his lying ass into a polling place, but instead chose mail — the same method he keeps calling fraudulent — and then acted like his job title is a magical exemption from his own fearmongering.  This is the same guy who used mail ballots in 2020 and now pretends it’s only okay when he’s the one doing it, while calling it “cheating” when anyone else, especially Democrats, uses it.

Meanwhile, he’s out here shoving the SAVE Act down everyone’s throat like it’s the only thing standing between us and hordes of undocumented people stealing elections, when every serious study and factcheck keeps saying the same thing: noncitizen voting in federal elections is already illegal and extremely rare, and his “rampant cheating” line is pure fiction.  The bill has already passed the House and is now parked in the Senate, and he’s threatening to block other laws until it gets through, even though it would mostly make it harder for actual citizens to vote by forcing people to cough up passports, birth certificates, or naturalization papers just to register, and even to copy IDs for mail ballots.  Analyses show a chunk of perfectly legal voters don’t even have those documents handy, which is the whole point — this is voter suppression dressed up as “security,” meant to scare people and shrink the electorate, while he personally keeps abusing the very same mailin system he’s trying to kneecap.

So when he says he mailed his ballot “because I’m president,” what he’s really saying is: the system is rigged and dangerous unless I’m the one using it, and the SAVE Act is about locking down everyone else’s access while he moves the goalposts and then breaks his own rules on camera.  It’s hypocrisy on purpose — demonize mail voting to juice the base, push a harsh bill that would make it harder for the “wrong” people to vote, then quietly enjoy the convenience of mailin ballots for himself and write it off as a perk of being king of the castle.

Trump’s Polls

Trump’s having an absolute meltdown week with the polls, and the best part is even Fox had to stop fluffing him and put the ugly numbers on screen.  Their own poll has him sitting at about 41% approval and 59% disapproval — the worst he’s ever done in a Fox survey — with a big chunk of voters strongly disapproving and most people flatout hating how he’s handling Iran and the economy.  Other national polling has him down around 36% approval overall, underwater by 20+ points, with people angry about the Iran war, gas prices, and cost of living, and majorities now saying the war is making us less safe and they don’t even support the operation.

His response is the same tired Trump script: rageposting that the polls are “fake,” insisting he’s “much higher than that,” claiming there’s a huge “silent majority” that doesn’t show up in the numbers, and whining that Fox has been “against” him and is using “rigged” pollsters.  He’s literally out there saying the “real polls” show him crushing everyone while the public data from Fox, Reuters, and others all show him bleeding support with independents, nonMAGA Republicans, and people who are over the war and the prices.  You can feel the panic in how he talks about it — instead of adjusting course on Iran or the economy, he’s just screaming louder that the numbers are wrong and blaming the very network that spent years running interference for him, because now even they can’t hide how bad this looks.

Trump…so upset with Kimmel over MarkWayne being a plumber

Trump is losing his mind because Jimmy Kimmel cracked a joke about Markwayne “MMA fighter turned plumber” Mullin now running Homeland Security, but this is the same crew that has spent years sneering at AOC for waiting tables and tending bar, like being a bartender made her stupid and unqualified to be in Congress.  He called into Fox to whine that Kimmel is a “loser” with “no ratings” and tried to turn it into some big defense of the noble working man, pretending this was all about respect for plumbers, when his people have been on TV and rightwing media for years mocking AOC’s bar job as proof she’s just a silly little waitress who should sit down and shut up.  MAGA world suddenly cares about “workingclass dignity” the second it’s their unqualified guy being clowned for jumping from plumbing and lowtier MMA fights to running DHS, but when it’s a young Latina from the Bronx who went from bartending to Congress, it’s open season on her resume, her intelligence, her looks, all of it.

Kimmel’s whole point was obvious: it’s not that plumbing is bad, it’s that maybe the person in charge of terrorism and national security should have a little more relevant expertise than “fixed your sink and did some cage matches,” and he even spelled that out — you don’t call a general to unclog a toilet, and you don’t put your plumber in charge of Homeland Security.  But MAGA needs a culturewar tantrum on demand, so they twisted it into “Democrats hate bluecollar Americans,” pretending they’ve always honored plumbers and trades while their own stars were on Fox not that long ago smirking “you were in the bar, AOC, and not to have a drink, to serve one,” and using her old job as a punchline.  It’s pure, classic hypocrisy: when it’s AOC, workingclass background means you’re dumb and unfit; when it’s one of their guys, that same workingclass background is suddenly sacred, and anyone pointing out he might be wildly unqualified becomes an elitist monster — and Trump, as always, is at the center of that double standard, screaming the loudest.

Cabinet Meeting Chaos

That Cabinet meeting yesterday was pure “the lights are on but nobody’s home” energy, and the fact that this man still has the nuclear codes is insane.  You’ve got his own top people briefing him on an active war with Iran, spiraling prices, and real risks to troops, and he derails it to ramble about his special $5 Sharpies, reenact a story about pens not working, imitate a child asking “what is this mommy,” and brag that he “loves the government like I love myself economically” because he swapped out fancy pens at the White House.  In the same session he’s claiming Iran is “obliterated,” insisting they’re “begging us” for a deal while they’re still firing missiles and threatening oil choke points, and then literally joking on camera that if he actually explained his Iran plans, his own Cabinet would probably use the 25th Amendment to take him out.

You watch the footage and you can see the Cabinet sitting there stonefaced while he pinballs between war, TSA, a random murder story in Chicago, renovations at the Fed building, and the price of pens like an uncle who’s drifted off midsentence at Thanksgiving but happens to be president.  Outside that room, you’ve now got people on the right joining the left calling openly for JD Vance and the Cabinet to at least consider the 25th, because this isn’t just “Trump being Trump” anymore — this is a 79yearold man in obvious cognitive and emotional freefall, fixated on his Sharpies and TV coverage while stumbling through war decisions and threatening to break constitutional norms like talking about staying longer than two terms.  For anyone not in the cult, that Cabinet meeting didn’t just look weird; it looked like a flashing red “we are well past 25th Amendment territory, and everyone in that room is pretending not to see it” sign.
