Medicare and Medicaid truths…yep, it’s AT SIGNIFICANT RISK
Here’s the deal: Republicans are finally admitting out loud what a lot of us suspected—they want to hand off Medicaid (and maybe even Medicare down the line) to the states and let them figure it out. A few GOP moderates, like Don Bacon and David Valadao, are actually saying the quiet part out loud and warning their own party that gutting federal funding is going to hurt a lot of people, especially in states that already rely heavily on Medicaid. But the party leadership is still dodging the real issues, especially when it comes to states with trigger laws and extreme abortion bans.
They’re not talking about what happens when states with the harshest laws and tightest budgets start slashing coverage or restricting care. If you live in a red state with a trigger law, you’re basically out of luck—your health care could get gutted, and there’s nothing in these GOP plans to protect you. Hospitals, nursing homes, and millions of vulnerable people are at risk, and the Republicans pushing this don’t seem interested in addressing the fallout. They’re just passing the buck and hoping nobody notices until it’s too late. Here’s the bottom line: the states most at risk if Republicans dump Medicaid onto the states or slash federal funding are the ones with “trigger laws” and the harshest abortion bans. If you live in one of these places, your health care could get gutted fast.
The biggest danger zones are:
- Arkansas
- Arizona
- Indiana
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- North Carolina
- Utah
- Virginia
- Illinois (though they’re trying to get rid of their trigger law)
In these states, if the feds pull back on Medicaid dollars, coverage for hundreds of thousands could disappear almost overnight. Some other states—like Iowa, Idaho, and New Mexico—wouldn’t cut coverage right away but would “review” it, which is just politician-speak for “get ready to lose it.”
Then you’ve got states where Medicaid expansion is actually in their constitutions, like South Dakota, Missouri, and Oklahoma. They can’t just yank coverage, but if the money dries up, they’ll be scrambling—either slashing other services, raising taxes, or trying to rewrite their constitutions.
And don’t forget the states with the strictest abortion bans and trigger laws—places like Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, West Virginia, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. If Medicaid goes state-by-state, people there could lose not just basic health coverage but also access to reproductive care, especially women and low-income families.
If these GOP plans go through, the South, Midwest, and Mountain West are in the bullseye. If you live in one of these states, your health care could be on the chopping block—and it could happen fast.
My Message to You
I had a friend call me out on Facebook the other day, asking why I keep posting political stuff and saying it’s “so dividing.” Honestly, I didn’t even know how to respond in the moment. But here’s the truth: I post facts and speak out every day because nearly half the country—49%—voted for Trump and the people he’s putting in power. I never trusted him, and time and time again, he’s proven exactly why I shouldn’t.
We are living through a real constitutional crisis. If there was ever a time to speak up, it’s now. We need to be loud, we need to demand truth, and we need to hold those in power accountable—because we all deserve so much better than what’s happening right now.
Look around: the market is being manipulated, tariffs are all over the place with zero clarity, and the lies just keep piling up. Anyone who dares to disagree gets attacked or silenced. The propaganda is relentless, and they keep hiding behind Christianity to justify it all—while people like Marjorie Taylor Greene are out there basically celebrating the Pope’s death and Trump is sending out those disgraceful Easter messages. Meanwhile, the rich are getting richer, and the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces.
This is why I speak out. I didn’t serve 22 years in uniform for my rights—or anyone else’s—to be trampled. Now is the time for every single one of us to be activists. If you’re not asking questions or raising your voice right now, you really need to ask yourself: is this the America you want? Is this the man you want to stand behind? Because silence is complicity, and we all deserve better.
This is what our Leader said and did today…
- Blaming Zelenskyy (again): Trump went after Ukraine’s president, basically saying the war is still going because Zelenskyy won’t just roll over and accept Trump’s so-called “peace plan,” which, let’s be honest, is just handing Putin whatever he wants. Trump’s acting like Ukraine should just give up its own land and call it a day.
- Downplaying Russia’s Latest Attack: After Russia bombed Kyiv and killed a bunch of civilians, Trump’s big response was to say he was “not happy” and that it was “bad timing.” Seriously? He couldn’t even bring himself to actually condemn Russia—just told Putin, “Vladimir, STOP!” Like that’s going to do anything. It sounded more like he was annoyed his peace deal might get delayed than actually caring about the people who died.
- Bragging About His “Deadline”: Trump told the press he has his own secret “deadline” for a Ukraine deal, but he wouldn’t say what it is. He just threatened that if Ukraine doesn’t cave soon, the U.S. will have a “very much different attitude.” Classic Trump—vague threats and acting like he’s the only one who knows what’s going on.
- Backpedaling on His 24-Hour Peace Promise: Remember when he swore he’d end the Ukraine war in 24 hours? Now he’s saying he was just being “a little sarcastic” and it’s actually a lot more complicated. He’s already rewriting history and pretending he never made those ridiculous promises.
- Suggesting the U.S. Should Run Ukraine’s Power Plants: In a call with Zelenskyy, Trump actually floated the idea that the U.S. should “own” and run Ukraine’s power plants to keep them safe. Because apparently, his answer to everything is some weird business takeover.
Trump spent the day blaming Ukraine, cozying up to Putin, downplaying Russian war crimes, and moving the goalposts on his own empty promises. If you’re looking for dumb, reckless, or just plain bizarre statements, he was in rare form today.
I'm not even going to get into any other topics today. If you voted Republican, you need to realize that just sitting back and hoping things will magically get better isn’t going to cut it. You have to actually call your representatives and make some noise, you need to advocate for truth, you need to do your own research, you need to get off NewsMax and Fox (although Fox is starting to call it out), you need to get involved, you need to educate yourself in the government and how it works, you need to be curious and you need to STOP attacking. Everything we tried to warn you about is happening right in front of us. The cracks in the foundation are showing—don’t just stand there and let it all come down on top of you.
If you’ve lost friends over all this like I have, I honestly hope they find their way back. If you know people who are finally waking up and searching for the truth, help them—don’t push them away. Stick to sharing what’s real, because right now, this country is a mess. Our relationships with longtime allies are in shambles. Financially, we’re teetering on the edge, and if Trump doesn’t back off these tariffs with China, get ready for empty shelves and prices that are through the roof. Socially, it’s a disaster—anyone who isn’t white is at risk, and honestly, we’re all at risk. Constitutionally, we’re falling apart—just look at how due process was ignored for people deported to El Salvador. If it can happen to them, it can happen to you. If we keep going down this road, people are going to die. This is serious, and it’s time to wake up.
If this has helped, please like and share—cause good trouble.
