How NOT To Act: The Big, Beautiful Book of Bad Ideas

🌙

Once upon a time, there was a president who called everything “Big” and “Beautiful.” This week, he tried to sneak his “Big Beautiful Bill” through Congress at 1 a.m. while most people were sleeping. If you want to be fair, always do important things when everyone can see—not in the middle of the night!

💰

The Big Beautiful Bill was stuffed with surprises! It gave giant tax breaks to the richest people, cut money for sick and poor families, and even made it easier to buy gun silencers. The people who needed help the most—kids, the elderly, and the sick—were left with less, while the rich got more.

🛡️

The president also dreamed up a “Golden Dome” to protect America from space missiles. He said it would only cost $175 billion (that’s a lot of zeroes!) and be finished super fast. But experts and even other countries said, “That’s not realistic!”

🪙

This week, the president held a big, expensive dinner to celebrate Bitcoin. He invited secret investors and bragged about how the price was soaring. But while he was busy with crypto coins, regular people were worrying about jobs and groceries.

🌍

During a visit with South Africa’s president, he told wild stories about “white genocide”—stories that experts and even the South African president said were just not true. It’s important to tell the truth, especially when meeting new friends.

✈️

The president’s team put migrants on a plane to South Sudan, even though a judge said, “No, that’s not allowed!” They did it anyway, sending people to a dangerous place and ignoring the rules. When someone says “stop,” you should listen.

🩺

He made up a new kind of cancer—“Stage 9”—and said the last president was hiding it. (There’s no such thing as Stage 9 cancer. Doctors say it only goes up to Stage 4!)

🛩️

He accepted a $400 million airplane from another country to use as Air Force One. Some people said, “That’s not okay, it could be a bribe!” But he just called it a “gift” and said it would be “stupid” to say no.

🎉

He’s planning a giant parade for his birthday with 7,000 soldiers, 70 planes, and 370 vehicles—costing up to $45 million. That’s a lot of money for a party!

🤷♂️

When asked about cuts to health care, cancer research, and children’s programs, his health secretary, RFK Jr., didn’t seem to know what was being cut or why. If you’re in charge, you should always know what’s happening!

🚫⚖️

Meanwhile, his Homeland Security Secretary, Ms. Noem, went on TV and got confused about something called “habeas corpus”—a really important rule that protects people from being locked up for no reason. She said the president could just ignore it if he wanted. But that’s not true! Even kids know you have to follow the rules, especially the ones that protect everyone’s rights.

Moral of the story

If you want to know how NOT to act, just look at this week in Trump Land. Let’s do better, together.

So, kids, if you ever want to be a good leader, remember:

Don’t sneak around in the dark.

Don’t make up stories or new kinds of cancer.

Don’t ignore the rules or judges.

Don’t take giant presents from strangers.

Don’t get confused about the rules that keep people safe.

And always, always take care of people who need help the most.

Because being a good leader means doing the right thing—even when no one’s looking.
