So yeah, it’s completely head-scratching—but also very on brand—that America is hitching its “peace” wagon to indicted war criminals, authoritarian leaders, and billionaire deal guys, and then acting shocked when Palestinians and a lot of the world don’t exactly see this as a trustworthy path to justice or real peace.

He talked like his policies have been a straight blessing to Black communities—citing things like eliminating federal income tax on tips and sending the National Guard into cities with large Black populations as if militarizing Black neighborhoods is some gift—while ignoring the way his administration has cracked down on DEI, attacked honest Black history in schools, and pushed “anti-woke” crusades that directly undermine Black educators and students.
