The Trump administration is fast-tracking white South Africans-mainly Afrikaners-into the US as refugees, saying they face “harrowing circumstances” and violence back home. Trump claims it’s not about race, just about helping people in danger.

They’re literally turning away refugees from everywhere else-Central America, the Middle East, Africa-people fleeing war, gangs, famine, and actual genocide.
Afghans who risked their lives to help us during the war? Trump is ending their deportation protections, telling some to “self-deport” back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan-basically sending them straight back into danger after everything they did for us. And unless you’re a Christian, don’t expect an exception.
They’re locking people up in El Salvador, threatening to send them to Syria, and offering cash and flights to deport people.
Meanwhile, Gaza is burning and the US is doing nothing-the “aid plan” only covers a fraction of people and is slammed by every major relief group.

But for this one group-white South Africans-the doors swing wide open and the process moves at lightning speed.

How is this not blatant hypocrisy?
Where’s the “harrowing circumstances” energy for everyone else?

The Episcopal Church had the backbone to say, “No, we won’t be part of this pipeline.” We invoked our legacy-Desmond Tutu, the fight against apartheid, our commitment to real racial justice. And for that, the Trump crowd threatened to pull our funding, as if the gospel is for sale and federal contracts are the new sacraments.

Here’s the truth: When a church says, “We can’t, in good conscience, be complicit in a system that looks like apartheid with a fresh coat of paint,” that’s not cancel culture. That’s integrity. That’s clarity. That’s the kind of moral courage I’m proud to see in my church.

MAGA doesn’t want faith-they want submission. When faith leaders choose justice over political loyalty, the pitchforks come out. But let’s be clear: the Episcopal Church didn’t cancel anything. We just refused to be complicit. We walked away from blood money with our conscience intact. If that bothers you more than the refugee pipeline itself, maybe it’s not the church that’s broken.
