What Happened Today – 11 Sept 2025

The Kirk shooting has set off a massive wave of condemnation, leaving people everywhere rightly disgusted and alarmed by the violence. But here we go again—Trump and his loyal MAGA army jumped straight in, blaming the “lunatic left” before a single fact about the shooter was even established. With zero information about who was actually responsible and no one in custody, the usual crowd is rushing to point fingers.

This bullshit isn’t limited to Kirk, either. While everyone is glued to the headlines about Kirk, another school shooting shook Colorado just yesterday—right in my backyard—and Trump didn’t say a single thing about it. His statements and social media have focused exclusively on Kirk, immediately blaming the “radical left” and pouring out tributes to his ally. Meanwhile, the Colorado tragedy is completely ignored: not a word on Truth Social, no mention in interviews, not even a token line about school violence. Local officials and the entire community are reeling, but Trump only speaks up when it fits the narrative he wants to push.

Contrast that with what happened during the Minnesota shooting that resulted in two deaths. From Air Force One, Trump said he wouldn’t call Governor Tim Walz, dismissing him as “whacked out,” “clueless,” and “a mess.” Trump even asked, “Why would I call him? I could be nice and call, but why waste time?” These comments broke with the tradition of presidents reaching out after violent tragedies. Even when he condemned the violence, Trump used the opportunity to drag Walz as “grossly incompetent” and a “terrible governor.” No outreach, no unity—just division and personal attacks, instead of any real leadership.

The Minnesota attack was brutal: On June 14, 2025, State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, were shot and killed at their home in Brooklyn Park. Melissa was a prominent Democrat, Speaker Emerita of the Minnesota House, and known for supporting abortion rights and legal cannabis. Earlier that same morning, State Senator John Hoffman, also a Democrat, and his wife Yvette Hoffman, were attacked in their Champlin home. Both survived after multiple surgeries—Yvette even shielded their adult daughter during the assault.

The shooter, 57-year-old Vance Boelter, impersonated a police officer and showed up at both households, specifically targeting Democratic officials. After a two-day manhunt, Boelter was caught, and authorities found a hit list with nearly 70 names—Democratic politicians, abortion-rights advocates, and providers. His motive? Clear, unabashed political hatred, especially against abortion rights. Boelter was a Trump voter, held hard conservative, anti-abortion views, and, according to those who knew him, carried a “darkness inside him.” Melissa and Mark Hortman were killed, and the Hoffmans were gravely wounded but survived.

It’s clear as day: outrage and response to tragedy have nothing to do with actual compassion or concern—it’s all about politics, division, and keeping the narrative alive.

For context and perspective—here’s a quick rundown of major high-profile shootings and assassination attempts from the last two years, plus what is known about the shooters and their political leanings:

·      The attempted assassination of Rep. Olivares (2025)—the shooter was identified as having left-leaning ties, motivated by anger over abortion restrictions.

·      Minnesota school shooting (2025)—shooter’s link to far-right online groups was confirmed, despite MAGA types immediately blaming the left. Once again, outrage came before facts.

·      Washington DC Capitol protest shooting (2025)—this shooter was affiliated with far-left protest groups, driven by anti-government sentiment.

·      2024 assassination attempts on Trump:

The Dallas rally shooting attempt—perpetrator was a far-right conspiracy theorist, angry about “stolen election” nonsense.

Security breach and attempted attack at a Michigan Trump event—no clear affiliation, but online profiles leaned MAGA-adjacent.

An attempted attack at a Pennsylvania venue—this one was quickly labeled left-wing, but authorities later said the shooter was unaffiliated and mentally unstable.

Kansas City festival shooting (2024)—remained untied to any political ideology, totally independent.

·      Kirk shooting (current, 2025)—no info yet on motive or political leaning; everyone is projecting their own narratives with absolutely zero facts.

Every time, there’s blaming, speculation, and division before the facts even come out. Stop it. History matters—motives and leanings have bounced all over the spectrum, and sometimes the true story doesn’t match up with the instant outrage. How about we COME TOGETHER to find solutions – how about we stop pointing fingers.  While the leadership of this country is FAST to point fingers – WE the PEOPLE can either join in or SPEAK OUT against it and PUSH our elected leaders to DO SOMETHING MORE than “thoughts and prayers.”

Today is the 24th anniversary of 9/11—a heartbreaking day as it is, and now we add the pain of yesterday’s events on top of it. So, take care of yourself and those around you. Tell your people you love them. The flood of graphic videos being blasted out across feeds isn’t healthy for anyone—talk to your kids, talk to your friends, and steer clear. No one needs to add more trauma to already heavy hearts.

I’m taking a break tomorrow, heading for the mountains, because honestly, all of this is just too much. Stay strong, stay kind, and stop letting ignorance and divisiveness win. Enough is enough.
